Welding Machines for Sale and Rental in Singapore

Lincoln Machinery supplies, rents, services, and repairs welding machines for the marine and shipyard, oil and gas, and construction industries across Singapore and the region. Our range includes the WELDMAN brand, our own heavy-duty welding machines designed & manufactured locally in Singapore.

Industrial Welding Machines for Every Application

Our welding machine range covers MIG, TIG, MMA, SAW and Gouging processes for heavy-duty industrial welding applications including fabrication and maintenance across Singapore and the region. We supply new and reconditioned units. Our WELDMAN welding machines are designed and built for continuous industrial use.

Every machine we supply is backed by an in-house pre-sale and post-sale engineering team covering electrical, mechanical, and technical disciplines. Our team has supported Singapore’s oil and gas, marine and shipyard, and process industries since 1976, and advises customers on machine selection based on welding process, duty cycle, and site conditions.

Key Features to Consider Before Buying

Here are six technical features to evaluate before purchasing a welding machine for industrial or on-site use.

  • Inverter technology: Delivers stable output at higher efficiency and lower power consumption than conventional machines.
  • Duty cycle: Determines continuous welding time before thermal cut-out activates.
  • Portability: Suits site-based welders who move between locations across a project.
  • Arc stability: Reduces spatter and produces cleaner welds across all welding positions.
  • Energy efficiency: Cuts electricity costs and diesel consumption on generator-powered sites.
  • Heavy-duty construction: Withstands dust, vibration, and continuous industrial use in harsh environments.

Types of Welding Machines

Six processes cover most industrial welding machines sold in Singapore. Each uses a different arc, filler method, and shielding technique, suited to different materials and applications.

MIG welding, or metal inert gas welding, uses a continuous wire electrode fed through a torch alongside a shielding gas. The wire electrode is consumable, meaning it melts into the weld pool as the arc forms between the wire and the base metal.

MIG is a fast process suited to workshop fabrication and production welding. However, wind can disrupt the shielding gas, which limits the use of these machines in windy outdoor conditions. Gasless inner-shield welding is suitable for outdoor applications.

TIG welding is a process in which an arc is struck between a TUNGSTEN electrode and the metal work piece. The weld area is shielded by an inert gas flow to prevent contamination of the tungsten, molten pool and weld area. In most cases a filler rod is fed into the weld pool to reinforce the weldment. The process produces the cleanest and most precise welds available in industrial welding.

TIG can weld a wider range of metals than MIG, including aluminium, copper, and brass. However, the process runs slower and requires a skilled professional for welding.

MMA welding, also known as manual metal arc, stick, or shielded metal arc welding(SMAW), uses a flux-coated consumable electrode. The arc burns between the coated electrode and the base metal, powered by either DC or AC current. As the electrode melts, the flux coating creates a gaseous shield and a slag layer that protects the weld from contamination.

MMA welding suits outdoor structural work, maintenance, and repair, and weld most steels, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials.

SAW welding, also known as submerged arc welding, is a high-productivity method of joining metals using an electric arc beneath a protective covering of granular flux. Key features include continuous wire feeding, a hidden arc, and spatter-free welding operation.

SAW gives very high deposition and deep penetration on thick carbon and stainless steel, which suits shipbuilding, pressure vessels and structural beams. It is limited to flat and horizontal positions and is best suited to a controlled factory setting.

Gouging is a metal-removal process rather than a joining process. An arc is struck between a carbon electrode and the work piece to melt the metal, and a high-pressure air jet blasts the molten metal away, making it the fastest way to remove old welds, cut heavy steel or prepare bevels before welding.

It works in all positions on most metals, including carbon steel, cast iron and stainless steel, and pairs with an air compressor that supplies the required pressure and airflow. Because it produces high noise, heavy smoke and molten spray, it needs strong ventilation, and the surface should be ground clean afterwards to prevent carbon deposits that can crack later welds.

Choosing the Right Welding Machine

Six factors guide the choice of welding machine for a given project or workshop.

Different welding processes suit different base metals.

  • MIG runs well on mild steel and, with the right gas mix, on stainless steel and aluminium. It best suited for indoor fabrication where stable airflow preserves shielding gas coverage and continuous wire feeding maximises arc-on time
  • TIG handles the widest range of metals, including copper and brass, and suits stainless steel piping and precision fabrication.
  • MMA covers most steels, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials, and remains the practical choice for structural and outdoor welding.
  • SAW is more suitable for thick steel plates and jobs that require a high deposition rate.

For workshops handling multiple welding processes, our UNI multi-process welding machines cover MIG, TIG, and MMA in a single unit.

Ampere is selected based on the size of the wire or electrode which in turn is decided based on the thickness of the base metal. Meanwhile, the duty cycle should match how long the machine will run under load without hitting the thermal overload.

WELDMAN inverter welding machines operate at 70% duty cycle at rated output, supporting long continuous welding shifts on production and heavy fabrication work.

Welding machines are powered either from an electrical supply or by an on-board diesel engine, and the right choice comes down to power access at the work site.

  • Electric welding machines run on mains or generator power and suit workshops and sites with a stable supply. Inverter models are compact and efficient, and cover MIG, TIG and MMA work.
  • Diesel welding machines are engine-driven and generate their own power, which suits remote sites, offshore work and locations without mains access.
Lincoln Machinery’s diesel welding machines also include two 16A 3-pin sockets so users can plug in grinders to clean up slag after welding without needing a seperate power source on site.

Single-phase welding machines which are lighter & portable, run on 1-ph 230V +/-10% mains supply and suit lighter fabrication, maintenance, and site repair work. Three-phase machines run on 3-ph 415V +/-10% mains supply, deliver higher output and suit heavy-duty production welding in workshops.

Wherever mains supply is not available, use a diesel generator to power the welding machine.

Portable inverter welding machines suit site-based work, offshore projects, and jobs requiring movement between welding stations. In contrast, workshop-based machines are heavier, run at higher outputs, and stay in a fixed fabrication bay. Site conditions, including power access and transport logistics, should guide the choice between the two.

Energy efficiency shapes the long-term running cost of any welding machine, especially on continuous-use sites. WELDMAN inverter welding machines operate at a high power factor and draw less kVA than conventional machines, which reduces cable sizing, switchgear ratings, and power consumption. Overall, inverter welding machines can save up to 28% on energy costs compared with conventional machines, a difference that adds up over long production runs.

That lower energy and fuel draw also reduces the carbon footprint of a project. On generator-powered sites, the lighter load means less diesel burned and fewer emissions across the project life, so the machines run more economically and more cleanly than conventional equipment.
